Betty lands job at Google after Sabio Coding Bootcamp

What happens when you graduate college and are unsure about your career path? Do you push through until you can’t because of the time/money spent? Do you take another risk? For Betty, she knew she wanted to start off her adult life on the right track, that’s why after graduating from UCLA, she went to Sabio. Originally from Hong Kong, Betty was an Econ major, “I got an internship right after graduating and learned that I didn’t feel like this was what I wanted. I found Sabio through a friend’s recommendation and jumped right into it. I realized that coding gives you a set of hard skills and is really quite empowering. It allows you to build. That’s what made me want to go into coding, so I could create and build things, which led me to Sabio.
Before finding Sabio however, Betty browsed other schools, “I was comparing between one or two other bootcamps then. I had a friend who told me that Gregorio Rojas (Sabio’s co-founder & CTO) and Liliana Monge (Sabio’s Co-Founder & CEO) were very caring. It wasn’t just a place where they took your money and taught you lectures. It was like a sense of community at Sabio, which is what made it stand out. It was also pretty easy to on-board through the Pre-Work program which I didn’t find in any of the other bootcamps.” As she got started, Betty could tell Sabio was preparing her for the real-life workforce." A day-to-day life of a Sabio student almost feels like going to work, it wasn't like a typical classroom/lecture situation. It felt like I sat around my cohort of developers and we had actual work to do. Each day we came in and we did stand up, gave updates and then we would check our tickets to find our assignments for that day.
Then the most exciting part would be after a sprint, which is a week after and the client comes in. We show everyone in the cohort as well as the client what we have built. It was quite exciting to look forward to coming to Sabio every day and get that moment at the end of the week where something is working."
