Chris Made the Professional Transition from Working in Biotechnology to Becoming a Full Stack Developer
Chris R. recently graduated with Sabio Cohort 29 in Culver City. None of this was by accident. It was likely that he would find his way back into software engineering after being exposed to programming as a high school student in an Advanced Placement course.
Programming was embedded in Chris’s psyche, but he viewed the whole process as purely entertaining rather than laborious. So Christopher entered college with the traditional electrical engineering path focusing on the software side, only to later divert his studies to cell and development biology.
Chris received his undergraduate degree in cell and developmental biology from UC Santa Barbara, and as an easily recognizable credit to his academic background, he was hired by Baxalta, a biotech company. Chris began working as a laboratory analyst, performing
investigative work in biochemistry settings, writing reports and processing monitoring trends using the computer skills he had been honing since high school. When the big salary raises didn’t happen, Chris’s career thoughts retreated back to that impulsive curiosity surrounding object-oriented programming coding.
